Peter Perica, Jr. son of the late Mary and Peter Perica, Sr. passed away peacefully with his loved ones around him on Friday, June 17, 2011. He is survived by his beloved wife, Delores and their children, Craig and Patti Perica of Blountsville, TN, Cindy and Rob Collins of Highland Park, IL, Debi Perica of Miami, FL, and Audrey and Bob Medsker of Cary, IL, as well as his grandchildren Erica Tilvikas, of Zion, IL and Lauren and TW Harrison of Greeneville, TN and their son, his only great grandchild, Trey. Pete is also survived by his siblings Mildred and Jack Vogelsang of Godfrey, IL, Ray and Sue Perica of Lakeland, FL, Paul and Patty Perica of Godfrey, IL and Ken and Ellen Perica of Cincinnati, OH. Pete was born in Alton, IL and attended Alton High School. After high school, he joined the Marine Corp where he served from 1951 to 1954 achieving the rank of Sergeant, and was a decorated veteran in the Korean War. Throughout his life, Pete was a patriotic, dedicated veteran who strongly supported his country and the Marine Corp. He worked at Owens Illinois Glass Works Mold Shop for 35 years and retired in 1992. Pete was an avid sports enthusiast and in particular loved baseball and the Cardinals. After retiring, Pete worked for the Philadelphia Phillies at their spring training camp in St. Petersburg, Florida. Pete also loved the game of golf. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Monday at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton.
