Perry Houchens

Perry Houchens, 93, passed away at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 9, 2010, at Robings Manor Nursing Home.  He was born on November 23, 1916, in Little Rock, Arkansas the son of the late Miriam and Jennie (Upson) Houchens.  He married Helen Houchens and she preceded him in death.  Survivors include a friend, neighbor, and guardian Debbie Kelly and her family of Brighton.



He was formerly employed a as machinist at Shell Oil Company.  He was a Chief Engineman in the United States Navy.  He attended Faith Baptist Church for several years.



He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.



Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, October 13, 2010, at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River.  Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 14, 2010 at the funeral home.  Pastor George Hartley III will officiate.  Burial will follow at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey with full military honors by the Ritual Team of VFW Post 1308 of Alton.



Memorials are suggested to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
