Penny June Williams, 47, passed away on Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in Saint Louis, Missouri.
Penny was born on March 2, 1977 in Wood River, Illinois to Larry Ellis and Kathy Ann (Kilmer) Williams.
From her earliest days, she brought warmth and kindness to those around her. Known for her ever-present smile that could brighten any room, Penny’s laughter and gentle spirit were blessings to all who knew her.
She was a devoted mother to her two beloved boys, who were the joy of her life. Penny’s love extended beyond her own children; she adored her nieces and nephews, always offering a listening ear, a comforting hug, and encouragement in every step of their lives. She was the heart of family gatherings, filling each of them with love, laughter, and a spirit that lifted everyone around her.
Penny’s love for Jesus was the cornerstone of her life. A woman of deep faith, she found purpose and joy in her relationship with God. She dedicated herself to her church, where she served passionately as a Sunday school teacher. Her time in the role allowed her to share the gospel she loved with the next generation, always delivered with her warmth and authenticity that surely left an impact on those she taught. He loved gospel music and spreading her faith.
Penny’s legacy of love, laughter and unwavering faith will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. Her life, while too short, was filled with purpose, and her impact on those she loved and served will be remembered always.
Surviving are her mother, Kate Jackson of Jerseyville; her two sons, Mark Bartholomew of Alton and Larry Williams of Kampsville; six sisters, Toni (Daniel) Jackson of Fidelity, Lonnie McClain of Fosterburg, Sarah (Sotero) Rodriguez of Jerseyville, LeeAnn (Tom) Thompson of Jerseyville, Beki (Marty) Sandifer of Wood River and Tina Arnold of Wood River; along with her beloved nieces and nephews and numerous extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her father, Larry Williams and a brother in-law, Danny McClain Jr.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m., Thursday.
Burial will follow at Kane Cemetery.
