Peggy Joann Skinner, 89, passed away at 4:02 a.m., Sunday, March 23, 2025 at Jerseyville Manor Nursing Home, five days after celebrating her 89th birthday with family.
She was born in Jerseyville, Illinois on March 18, 1936, the oldest of two daughters born to Virgil and Melba (Fritz) Brooks.
Joann was blessed to have grown up in a loving family, which laid the foundation for her truest joy in life, which was her family. She loved them all with every inch of her heart, and as her family continued to grow, as did her love and enjoyment.
She graduated in 1954 from Jersey Community High School, and began her working career at Jersey County Grain, and then on to Jersey Community High School, (to keep a watchful eye on her kids), and eventually retiring from Tri County FS, all in Jerseyville.
She married Duey Lee Skinner on March 27, 1954 in Saint Charles, Missouri, and together their lives have been blessed with just shy of four days of 71 years of marriage, and the joys they shared together raising their children, watching their family grow, and enjoying their farm.
Surviving are her husband, Duey Skinner of Jerseyville; three children and a son in-law, Kimberly and Jeff Tepen, Duey Skinner and Brenda McCreary, all of Jerseyville; six grandchildren, Brad (Nicole) Hagen of Jerseyville, Tara (Steve) Beauchamp of Richmond Heights, Missouri, Katelyn (Tom) Arenos of Fenton, Missouri, Megan (Rob) Monroe of St. Charles, Missouri, Danah (Ryan) Todd of Kingsland, Georgia and Colton Skinner of Jerseyville; 11 Great Grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Charles Albert Skinner; a grandson, Duey Jordan Skinner; and a sister and brother in-law, Sharon and Raymond Hagen.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 28, 2025 at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 29 at the First Baptist Church in Jerseyville, with Rev. Ed Haun officiating.
Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville.
Memorials may be given to her family, and will be used to assist in placing a monument at her gravesite, in care of the funeral home.
