Peggy Jo Spinks-Jenkins, 79, died at 4:32 p.m. Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at Alton Memorial Hospital. Born June 25, 1932 in Datto, AR, she was the daughter of Van and Goldie Whitson.
On November 20, 1948 in Knobel, AR, she married William Neely Spinks. He died on October 6, 2022. They had four daughters and a son. She later married Joe Jenkins of Alton. She worked at J.C. Penney in Alton for 31 ½ years. She was a member of Heartland Baptist Church in Alton.
Survivors include her second husband, Joe Jenkins of Alton, daughter, June Spinks of St. Peters, MO, two daughters and sons-in-law, Stephen and Vicki Moran of Alton and Joseph and Peggy Cline of Godfrey; son, William Spinks of St. Peters, MO; three sisters, Nixine Harpole of Bethalto, Hilda Larsen of Staten Island, NY and Joyce Gazaway of North Little Rock, AR, a brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Recena Krueger of Florissant, MO, five grandsons, James Schopen of Virginia, Brad and his wife Krista Federle of Parker, CO, Joseph Cline USAF, Tucson, AZ, Reece Spinks of Austin, TX, and Taylor Spinks of St. Peters, MO, two granddaughters, Lindsey and her husband Jared Nicholson, of Parker, CO and Bailee Spinks of St. Peters, MO, and one great grandson, Zion Federle of Parker, CO. She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, William Neely Spinks, sister, Vanital Turcol, and a daughter, Lisa Mae Spinks.
The family will be holding a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Friday, July 29, 2011 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Reverend Charley Westbrook will officiate. Burial will be at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Salvation Army.
