Peggy Emery Gibson, 72 passed away at 10:54 pm Monday, May 23, 2011 at home with her family by her side.
She was born on February 13, 1939 in Rector, Arkansas, the daughter of Richard & Eula (Walker) Parrish.
She married Jerome Emery on March 29, 1957 and he preceded her in death on July 25, 1997. She married Roscoe “Jack” R. Gibson on November 7, 2004 in Alton and he survives.
She was baptized at the First Christian Church in Alton and worked for 20 years as a SSW2 and MHT at Alton Mental Health Center. She loved music and dancing and especially loved when “Jack” serenaded and sang to her with his guitar.
In addition to her husband Roscoe “Jack” R. Gibson, she is also survived by five children and spouses, Margie & Kevin Bryant of Godfrey, Jerome Jr. & Keota Emery of Shipman, Kenneth Sr. & Karen Emery of Alton, Debbie & Mark Becker of Kampsville, and Victor “Wade” Gibson of Alton, 14 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren.
In addition to her first husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by a sister, Linda Howes, and two brothers, Earl & John Parrish.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 pm Thursday, May 26, 2011 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey where funeral Service will held at 1 pm Friday, May 27, 2011 with Rev. Arthur Roemer officiating.
Burial will follow at Upper Alton Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the R.P. Foundation (Retinitis Foundation).
