Pauline Hise

Pauline M. “Polly” Hise, 90, died at 9:20 p.m. on Friday, September 16, 2011 at Alton Memorial Hospital.  She was born June 10, 1921 in Haywood, West Virginia the daughter of the late Larry and Katherine (Cieri) Bumbledare. She retired in 1983 from the Alton School District.  She was an avid bowler and was a member of the 600 Club and the Bowlers Hall of Fame. She was past president of Opti-Mrs Club, had a green thumb, and loved to cook and bake. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinal Baseball fan. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.  On October 24, 1942 in Baltimore, Maryland she married Delbert F. Hise and he survives, also surviving are two daughters; Saundra “Soni” L. Sers and her husband Joseph S. of Stafford, Virginia, and Sherry R. Mancewicz of Godfrey, two sons; Thomas D. Hise and his wife Margaret L. of Blaine, MN and Kenneth L. Hise and his wife Patti of Belleville.  Six grandchildren; Shawn and Bradley Hise of Blaine, MN, Elizabeth Brennan and her husband Billy of St. Louis, MO, Stephanie Sers of Fredricksburg, VA, Joseph and Jacob Mancewicz of Godfrey, one brother; Joseph Bumbledare of Plainfield, IL, three sisters; Angeline Sutton and Virginia Oliverio of Bridgeport, W. VA., and Genevieve Mahoney and her husband Bradley of Galena, OH.  She was preceded in death by one brother; James Bumbledare and three sisters; Mary Bumbledare, Nellie Flanigan and Rosa Oliverio and one grandson; Matthew Sers.  Visitation will be Monday, September 19, 2011 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at Gent Funeral Home in Alton where funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday.  Burial will be at Valhalla Memorial Gardens.  Memorials may be made to American Diabetes Association.  Additional information and online guest book may be found at www.gentfuneralhome.com
