Pauline J. Vig, 81, went to be with the Lord at 7:10 am on Friday, October 22, 2010 at Bethalto Care Center in Bethalto.

She was born on June 15, 1929 in Bottineau, ND, the daughter of Erick and Grace (Elsberry) Schultz.

She married Desmond Vig on May 28, 1948, in Princeton, MN. He preceded her in death on May 8, 1993.

Pauline was a homemaker most of her life. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Bethalto. She enjoyed bridge clubs, reading, and watching movies.

She is survived by her three daughters and sons-in-law, Paula Ostrom and Ron Moulds of Bethel, MN, Dulcy and Tom Paquette of Morris, IL and Stacy and Kevin McRae of Bethalto; her grandchildren, Jayson Ostrom, Gordon, Jared, Katie and Michael McRae and Scott and Chris Scheibe; great grandchildren, Miranda, Sam, Jack, CJ, Justin and Dominick; her siblings and their spouses, Milly Lien of Northfield, MN, Don & Maureen Schultz of Lakeville, MN, Dick and Kay Schultz of Montana, Geri Bakken of Moorehead, MN; a sister-in-law, Gay Schultz of Mankato, MN and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Johnny Schultz and two brothers-in-law, Bia Lien and Bob Bakken.

In celebration of her life, visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm on Thursday, October 28, 2010 at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto. Visitation will continue from 9 am until funeral services at 9:30 am on Friday, October 29, 2010 at Zion Lutheran Church with Pastor Mark Hofferber officiating.

Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.

Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church or the Alzheimer’s Association.
