Paul L. Andrews, 77, passed away at 6:15pm on Monday, March 19, 2012, at Alton Memorial Hospital. He was born on February 5, 1935, in Monroe, Indiana the son of the late Eli and Nellie (Worden) Andrews. He married the former Marilyn Zuercher on November 19, 1955, in Berne, Indiana and she survives. Other survivors include two sons and a daughter in law: Mark Andrews of Seaside, Oregon, Carey and Lori Andrews of Caseyville, Illinois, two granddaughters: Ava and Elsie, one brother and sister in law: Albert and Minnie Andrews of Decatur, Indiana, one sister and brother in law: Leah and Merlin Zurcher of Berne, Indiana, a step sister: Evelyn Decker of Monroe, Indiana.
He was a graduate of Olivet Nazarene University in Bourbonnais, Illinois. An ordained minister in the Nazarene Church, he was the former pastor in Warsaw, Indiana, he helped in building programs at Anderson Indian Meadows in Anderson, Indiana, and at the Nazarene Church in Redkey, Indiana. He moved on to pastor at Glenview Nazarene Church in Edwardsville which relocated to Glen Carbon. He was the minister of visitation for the Roxana Church of the Nazarene where he was a member. He loved music.
He was an avid sports fan. He like spectator sports as well as playing them. He played football at Decatur High School. He lettered in cross country and track at Decatur High School. He studied piano and vocal music as a teenager and continued studying this at Olivet Nazarene University. He was also an avid reader.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter: Cheryl Lynn Andrews, and one brother: Bill Andrews.
In celebration of his life, visitation will be from 2pm to 6pm on Sunday, March 25, 2012, at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River. Visitation will continue from 10am until time of funeral services at 11am on Monday, March 26, 2012 at the Roxana Church of the Nazarene. Rev. Dr. Larry Lacher and Pastor Doug Krassow will officiate. Burial will follow at Wanda Cemetery in South Roxana, Illinois.
Memorials are suggested to the Roxana Church of the Nazarene.
