Patrick Yates

Grafton |

Patrick ‘Pat’ Alan Yates, born March 5, 1974, in Alton, IL to Robert ‘Bob’ Hoyt and Karen Rae (East) Yates passed away suddenly on January 13, 2025, at his home in Grafton, IL from a heart attack. He battled multiple medical conditions for many years including diabetes, a left leg amputation, kidney failure that required dialysis, and heart disease. Following a horrific car accident in December of 2023, his heath rapidly declined; however, Pat exhibited humor and determination throughout his battles until the end.

Pat was a graduate of Alton High School in 1992. It was there that he met his future wife, Lisa Marie (Brown) in Auto Mechanics Program. After having an instant attraction, they married February 28, 1995 in Alton, IL. Together they had 3 children, Zachary Alan of Brighton, IL, Abigail Grace of Alton, IL and Corree Elizabeth of Grafton, IL.

He was a social person and had multiple interests and hobbies that included RC cars, Slot Cars, Racing 2 Man Cruisers at Godfrey Race Track, Bow Hunting, 3D Archery, 4 Wheeling and 2 Mustangs – 1989 Fox Body GT and 2004 Cobra which were his pride and joy.

He is survived by his wife, Lisa, son, Zachary, daughters, Abigail (Jeramiah) and Corree; mother, Karen, brother Steven (Debra); sisters-in-law Laura (Joey) and Leslie, father-in-law, Randy Brown, several nieces and nephews, as well as great nieces and great nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Bob, and brother-in-law, Justin.

As per Pat’s wishes, he was cremated and no services were offered. In Spring of 2025, the family will hold a Celebration of Life in Pat’s honor where his ashes will be scattered on his favorite trails with his beloved dogs, Meramec ‘Mac’ and Ava.

Patrick was known for his dry and twisted humor and social personality. He will be remembered in the hearts of those he loved, cared deeply for and the impact he made upon them, for those who respected and loved him in return, will carry his memory in their hearts.
