Patrick T. Berger, 43, of Godfrey, IL passed away Thursday, June 5, 2025. He was born July 12, 1981, and was a lifelong member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton, IL.
Patrick worked for many years in automotive sales, learning the value of hard work and customer service at a young age at his grandfather’s car dealership, Wally Berger Buick, on Broadway in Alton, where he worked with his parents, Phil and Mary Berger, and his brother, Phillip Berger. He most recently owned the Patrick Berger Agency, in Alton, where he continued working with his parents in insurance sales.
He was a devout fan of the St. Louis Blues, had season tickets for decades, and cherished seeing the Blues win the Stanley Cup in 2019. He was an encyclopedia of hockey statistics, movie quotes, and information that he admitted was entirely useless. He was quick-witted, had an unmatched sense of humor, and always found the good in people and situations.
Patrick was a fiercely loyal son, brother, nephew, cousin, and friend to many, and his kindness and generosity were beyond measure. Although his time was cut short, he lived an incredibly full life, having traveled the country and the world with his family and friends. He would be devastated by our immense sadness and would prefer that we remember him in better times. If you were fortunate enough to know him, raise a glass to his memory.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Wally and Eleanor Berger, maternal grandparents, Jack and Patricia Wallace, and his aunt, Beth Berger. He is survived by his parents, Phil and Mary Berger, his brother Phillip Berger (Samantha), his canine companion Whiskey, his goddaughter Sage, and countless family members and friends.
Visitors can call on the family at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton, IL on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, for a prayer service at 3:45pm, and between 4:00pm and 7:00pm.
