Pary Moyers

Pary W. Moyers, 94, passed away at 10:10 am Thursday, July 21, 2016, at his home. He was born on May 19, 1922, in Carlyle County, Kentucky, the son of Pary M. and Esmerelda (Steinbeck) Moyers. Pary married Virginia Craine in St. Charles, Missouri, on May 9, 1942. She survives. He was a veteran of the United States Army. While serving his country during World War II, between the years 1942 and 1945, Pary was awarded a Purple Heart Medal and a Bronze Star for bravery. Pary was a civil service worker for Granite City Army Depot for 20 years prior to his retirement in 1967. He enjoyed coon hunting and was considered a jack of all trades. Pary was a very loving and devoted husband and father and will be greatly missed.In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children and their spouses, Pary A. and Rebecca Lynn Moyers of Alton, Rebecca Sue Moyers of Godfrey, Susan Marie and Joseph Flynn of Edwardsville; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents; one loving daughter Peggy Werner; and twelve brothers and sisters.A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 28, 2016, at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.Cremation rites have been accorded.Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois.Online condolences and guest book may be found at www.eliaskallalandschaaf.com
