Ovelia June Lagemann, 76 died at 11 a.m. July 19, 2011, surrounded by her family, after a short battle with cancer. June was one of ten children born to Willie T. and Nannie Bell (Prescott) Bloodworth of Eddyville KY. June relocated to Alton to live with a sister and work at the Glass Works where she met the love of her life Bob Lagemann. They were married November 24, 1954. He preceded her in death in April of 2008. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law Debbie and Jeff Higgins and granddaughter Amanda Higgins, and a son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Stacy Lagemann and grandson Barrett Lagemann, and new granddaughter Reagan Lagemann all of Godfrey. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy and she loved helping raise both Amanda and Barrett and was overjoyed to spend the last 3 months with her new granddaughter Reagan. Survivors also include sisters Willie Belle Mary of Godfrey, Genella Buckley, Charlene Polk, Sylvia Payne and Myles Bilyeau all of Kentucky. She is also survived by several sisters-in-law, Mary Holland, Reba Bloodworth and Helen Schafer, numerous nieces and nephews and their families. She was grateful to her niece Vicki Madison and family friend Kathy Taylor for helping provide for her recent care while ill. June was proceeded in death by her two brothers, Charles and Billy Bloodworth and two sisters, Christine Murray and Shirley Britt. June was member of the Godfrey 1st Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, July 21, 2011 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton where funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 22, 2011. Reverend Don E. Long Jr. will officiate. Burial will follow at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey.
