Obera (Bea) Elnora McMillen who was born Sept. 21, 1919 went home to be with the Lord August 5, 2015.  She was born in Boonville, IN to Jeannette and John Elikofer.

Bea married Wendell Guy McMillen on August 31, 1940.  He preceded her in death on October 31, 2013.

Bea graduated high school and attended business college in Indiana.  She was an active member of the Bethalto United Methodist Church for many years.  She was a bus driver for the Bethalto school district and was a member of the Order of Eastern Star.  Bea and Wendell liked to travel and enjoyed many trips together.  They both enjoyed playing cards with friends.

She was a loving and kind wife, mother, mother-in-law, and grandmother who dearly loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She gifted her children and grandchildren with beautiful quilts she had made and was always ready for a game of Yahtzee.


She is survived by sons Gary McMillen and wife Cheryl, William McMillen and wife Frances;  grandchildren Eric McMillen (Sandee), Leslie McMillen, Nathan McMillen (Joy), and Wendy McMillen Webster;  great grandchildren  Tyler McMillen,  (Kate) Dena Nesbit, (Cory) Thomas Phipps, Genna Webster, Lauren McMillen, Elliott McMillen, Grace McMillen, John (Jack) McMillen and many great great grandchildren.

Bea was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers and sisters, and a special niece Mary Lou Dugger who lived with Bea and Wendell for a number of years.   

Visitation will be from 2 to 6 pm Sunday, August 9, 2015 at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.

Funeral services will be 10:00 am Monday, August 10, 2015 at the Bethalto United Methodist Church with Pastor Joe Richard officiating.

Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.

Memorials may be given to the Bethalto United Methodist Church Building Fund.
