Norman D. Wall, 70, passed away at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 26, 2010, at his residence after a courageous battle with esophageal cancer.
He was born on February 28, 1940, in Alton, Illinois the son of the late Lloyd Amos and Cleda Irene (McGibany) Wall. He married the former Karen Jennings of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina on September 13, 1963, in Rosewood Heights and she survives. Other survivors include two sons and daughters in law: Christopher and Wendie Wall of Bellflower, California, Lt. Colonel Douglas and Jennifer Wall of San Antonio, Texas, four grandchildren: Kyle, Kelsey, Meghann, Sydney, a sister in law: Dorothy Wall of Port Clinton, Ohio, a special aunt: Letty Wall of Sorento, Illinois and one sister and brother in law: Cheryl and Dannie Emde of Tuscon, Arizona.
He was formerly employed at Olin Brass as a machinist for 38 years prior to his retirement in 2000. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Edwardsville. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He enjoyed fishing, doing woodworking, working on his home, and relaxing in his yard and garden.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother: Nelson Wall.
Visitation will be from 4pm to 7pm on Sunday, August 29, 2010, at Pitchford Funeral Home, 2555 Vaughn Road (Route 111) in Wood River. Funeral services will be held at 10:30am on Monday, August 30, 2010, at the funeral home. Bishop John Coleman will officiate. Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
Memorials are suggested to the Missionary Fund at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Edwardsville.
