Norma McGaughey, 85 of Moro, passed away on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at 9:44 pm at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born on August 25, 1935 in Midway, Illinois, the daughter of Walter and Julia (Henke) Gueldener. Norma married Richard McGaughey at St. Johns UCC of Midway on October 11, 1958; he passed away on June 30, 1991.
Norma was a member of St John's UCC of Midway. She enjoyed playing cards and singing in the choir.
She is survived by her children, Rick McGaughey of Linn Creek, MO, June Schoen (Joe) of Linn Creek, MO, and Laura Royse (Rob) of Moro, Il; five grandchildren, Brad McGaughey of Wood River, IL, Mark Carey (Kylie) of Sedalia, MO, Elizabeth Brasher (Dillion) of Eureka, MO, Mitchell Royse (Liz) of Helena, AL, and Nolan Royse; seven great grandchildren, Kaylen, Danielle, Trey, Dane and Christian Carey, and Easton and Bennett Brasher; a brother, Elmer Gueldener of Springfield, IL a brother-in-law, Bob Bratten of Bethalto, IL; and two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Gueldener of Midway and Karen Gueldener.
In addition to her parents and husband, Richard; Norma was preceded in death by three brothers and their spouses, Willard 'Bud' Gueldener (Alma), Junior Gueldener, and Arthur 'Art' Gueldener; and three sisters and their spouses, Mary Ann Kohlmiller (George), Wilma Bratten, and Ione Mick (Jim) and her mother-in-law and father-in- law, Floyd and Eleanora McGaughey.
Due to COVID-19 CDC guidelines will be followed.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 from 9:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am St. John's UCC Midway Church with Pastor Lori Schafer officiating.
Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens.
