Norma Fisher

Norma E. Fisher, 83, passed away at 6:40 pm, Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at Eunice Smith Nursing Home with her family by her side.  

She was born in Alton, IL on November 9, 1930, the daughter of the late Frank and Elizabeth (Schollmeier) Croxton.

She married the love of her life, Harold Wayne Fisher, on October 14, 1950 at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church.

Norma was a graduate of Marquette Catholic High School and continued to coordinate activities for the class of 1948. She was an active member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church, a board member for 5A’s, and a member of the Godfrey Women’s Club. She retired from sales at TK Carpet Gallery. She enjoyed traveling and loved crafts. She loved her family dearly and cherished time spent with them. She will be missed by her many wonderful, lifelong friends and all that knew her.

She is survived by her husband, Wayne; four children, Susan (Ed) Gent of Brentwood, TN, Sally (Jim) Day of Edwardsville, Sara (Greg) Lilley of Godfrey, Matthew Fisher and his partner, Larry Jackson, of Godfrey; and nine grandchildren, Ashley and Andy Moseley, Molly (Ian) Ahearn, Jonathan Day, Tim Day and Jason Day, Lauren, Elizabeth and Meredith Lilley.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one great grandson, Jack Ahearn; two grandchildren, Mitchell and Miles Moseley, and her brother, Roland “Bruzz” Croxton.

Visitation will be from 10 am to 12:00 pm on Friday, May 23, 2014 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church on Godfrey. Funeral Mass immediately following at 12:00 pm with Father Steve Pohlman as celebrant.  

Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Alton.  

The family would like to thank the staff at BJC Hospice and Eunice Smith Nursing Home, especially Jim Roettgers RN, for all their kindness, compassion, and excellent care shown to her and her family.

Memorials may be made to 5 A’s Animal Shelter or St. Ambrose Church New Organ Fund.
