Nora Hailer

Nora M. Hailer, 62, passed away at 12:08 a.m. on Friday, February 18, 2011, at her residence. 

She was born on June 25, 1948, in Alton, Illinois, the daughter of the late Stanley E. and Viola V. (Jones) Howell.  She married Lawrence "Larry" Hailer on December 12, 1974, in Alton and he survives.  Other survivors include three daughters and a son in law: Lisa Davis of Wood River, Linda Brickhouse of Granite City, Melissa and Nathan Bloodworth of East Alton, four grandchildren: Ryan and Zachary Davis, Alex Brickhouse, and Clark Bloodworth, two sisters, one brother, and a special aunt: Juanita Lane.


She was formerly employed at Olin Winchester in the primer department.  She then worked at Jim's Tax Service in East Alton as an assistant and she sold Avon for over 30 years.  She enjoyed babysitting, making cakes and decorating them.  She taught Sunday School and Thursday School for over 30 years.  She was a member of the Vaughn Hill Church of Christ in East Alton. She loved her grandkids.  She was preceded in death by her parents, one grandson: Cy Whaley Howell Bloodworth, and several brothers and sisters.


In celebration of her life, visitation will be from 1pm to 5pm on Sunday, February 20, 2011, at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River. 

Funeral services will be held at 10am on Monday, February 21, 2011 at the funeral home.  Joe Hawkins will officiate. 

Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.

Memorials are suggested to any children's charity of the donor's choice.
