Nellie Stork

Nellie C. Stork, 100, passed away at 5:45 p.m. Friday, May 27, 2011 at Rosewood Care Center in Alton.  She was born in Springfield, IL on August 17, 1910 the daughter of the late James and Nellie (Angell) Sulivan.  She can to Alton in 1930 to work for Millers Mutual.  She met Joe Stork and they were married on September 5, 1933 and he preceded her in death on May 11, 1981.  She was retired as the owner of Joe Stork Cleaners in North Alton.  She was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Godfrey, former member of Lockhaven Country Club.  She enjoyed spending time on her boat “Ma Belle”.  Surviving are two daughters; JoAnn and her husband John Powers of Creve Coeur, MO and Sandy and her husband Vic Goeken of Godfrey.  12 grandchildren:  Susan (Mark Lewis) Powers, John  (Elizabeth) Powers, Kevin (Mary) Powers, Kathleen Powers, Dan Powers, Victoria (William) Maher, Catherine (Mark) Droste, Phillip (Cicek) Goeken, Patricia (Timothy) Wooff, James (Lennie) Goeken, Michael (Brenda) Goeken,  and Melissa Goeken., 20 great grandchildren, 2 sisters and one brother:  Margaret Sullivan, Rose Ann (Art) Beat, Donald (Shirley) Sullivan , and a sister-in-law; Louise Sullivan.  She is preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters-in-law; Dennis (Dorothy) Sullivan, Francis (Rita) Sullivan and James Sullivan.  Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until mass of Christian burial at 11:00 a.m.Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Godfrey with Father Steve Pohlman to officiate.  Burial will be at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Godfrey.  Memorials may be made to St. Ambrose Catholic Church or Ursuline  Convent in Alton.  Additional information and online guest book may be found at www.gentfuneralhome.com
