Naomi Middleton

Naomi May Middleton, 83, died at 12:35 p.m. Thursday, September 10, 2009 at her home. Born January 18, 1926 in Norris City, IL she was the daughter of Ermon and Mary Ann (Shain) Cole. She married Elmer Lee Middleton Jr. on November 8, 1952. He survives. She dedicated her life to raising her kids and grandkids. Naomi was a devoted member of The Salvation Army Citadel in Alton. She is survived by a daughter, Randie Lansdale of Alton, six grandchildren; Stephanie and Kenny Shelby, Rachael and Travis Wells, Crystal and Dave Meharg, Jennifer and J.J. Collier, Aaron and Sasha Middleton, and Sara Lansdale, 10 great grandchildren with two more on the way, brothers and sisters, Gerald Cole, Patricia and Mel Davis, and Beulah Davis and many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son Steven Middleton, a grandson, Kevin Middleton, sisters, Lucille McAfoos, Nadine Kelly, Fern Vogelpohl, Lorene McGarvey, Edna McBride, and Della Heaton, brothers, David Cole, Robert Middleton, and Paul Davis, and her in-laws, Elmer and Vera Middleton. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Gent Funeral Home in Alton where funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday. Captain Randy Tooley will officiate. Memorials may be made to The Salvation Army or to the family.
