Morris Edwards

Morris “Maurice” Johnson Edwards was born May 21, 1932 in Alton, the son of Theodore Robert Edwards and Birdie Belle Johnson-Edwards. He married the former Mary Taylor December 14, 2001. (she survives)Maurice accepted Christ at an early age at The Church of the Living God.He attended Alton High School and was a member of Dunbar Lodge #97 in Alton. He retired from the Alton School District. Maurice enjoyed family, friends and fishing.He is survived by his children: Wesley McGowan, Karla Blalark-Jefferies, Kelvin Blalark, Andy McGowan, Marsha Edwards-Gilmore, Maurice Edwards, Keith Edwards, Donald Edwards, William Edwards,  Christopher Edwards, Dione Kimbrough, John Haynes, DaNeitra Morris, Steven, Jessie, Ricky Kimbrough, and Ada Walker, 40 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, a sister Judy Walker, an aunt Juanita Edwards-Cyprian, special cousin Josephine Beckwith, special nephews, Carlston Edwards and Cyrus Edwards, special friend John Braggs.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 3 children, Monty McGowan, Kim Kinbrough and Anthony Edwards4 brothers Cyrus and Freddie Edwards, Trois and James Swanson.Visitation Friday April 17, 2014 from 9 a.m. until time of service at 11 am at Deliverance Temple Complex Officiating Minister Donald EdwardsBurial Upper Alton CemeteryCathy M.Williams & Sons Funeral Home in charge of arrangements
