Morris A. Davis, 71, died at 3:05 p.m. Thursday, March 24, 2011 at Christian Hospital in St. Louis, MO. Born July 2, 1939 in Alton, he was the son of Clarence E. and Etta (Jones) Davis. He retired from Laclede Steel in Alton after 39 years of service. He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Salvation Army of Alton. He loved the outdoors and taking care of his property in the country and he enjoyed being around his family.
On August 5, 1961 in Alton, he married the former Patricia A. Middleton. She survives. Also surviving is a daughter, Dawn Diveley and her husband Glen of Roxana, one son, Dennis Davis of Wood River and his fiancé Donna Coleman of O’Fallon, MO, two grandchildren, Ashley Cox and her husband Phil of Wood River, and Andrea Diveley and her fiancé Dave Huber, of Roxana, one great grandson on the way, one brother, Donald W. Davis of Fosterburg, two sisters-in-law, Beulah Davis of Alton, and Mary Davis of Alton, numerous nieces and nephews, one step sister, Marilyn Moore of Alton. He was preceded in death by his parents, step mother, Fern Voumard, two brothers, Raymond and Paul Davis, two step brothers, Virgil Voumard and Danny Staton, and three step sisters, Maxine Fessler, Arlene Johnson and Virginia Woods.
Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Sunday at Gent Funeral Home in Alton where funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday.
Burial will be at Woodburn Cemetery. Captain Brian Davis and Captain Randy Tooley will officiate.
Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army.
