Mildred “Ruth” Lawrence, 95, died at 8:20 p.m. Saturday February 19, 2011 at Rosewood Care Center in Alton.
She was born November 2, 1915 in Mounds, Illinois the daughter of the late Henry H. and Agnes B. (Mize) Sharp. On April 30, 1960 in East St. Louis, IL she married John Warren Lawrence and he preceded her in death. She retired from Illinois American Water Works as a stock record clerk.
She was a member of the Eastern Star-Alton Chapter #775 O.E.S. and a member of Heartland Baptist Church.
She is survived by one step-son: John W. Lawrence Jr. and his wife Carol of Belleville, one step granddaughter: Mary Jane Dashner and her husband Terry of Red Bud, IL, one step grandson: Dean Lawrence and his wife Diane of Millstadt and two step great grandchildren: Cole Joseph Lawrence and Jack Thomas Lawrence.
Visitations will be Tuesday, February 22, 2011 from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 12:00 Noon at Gent Funeral Home in Alton with Reverend Charley Westbrook to officiate. Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery in Belleville. Memorials may be made to Heartland Baptist Church in Alton.
