Mildred L. Crites, 89, passed away at 11:54 am on Friday, December 10, 2010 at her home, under the care of BJC Hospice.
She was born on July 13, 1921 in Kinder, Missouri, the daughter of Leonard and Ora (Massey) Walker.
She married Herbert D. Crites on May 27, 1939 in Marble Hill, Missouri. He preceded her in death.
She worked in Home Health care as a private nurses aide. She was a member of Harmony Baptist Church in Alton. She enjoyed being at home with her family and friends. Her door was never closed and she shared her home with many people.
She is survived by a niece that she raised, Pauletta Dralle of Cottage Hills; two nieces, Shelby Bishop of South Roxana and Patty and her husband Gary Lueking of Louisville, TX; ten grandchildren and their spouses, Joe & Cheryl Bertels, Jeff Dralle, Cindy Bertels, Darin & Tracey Dralle, Larry & Kim Bertels, Dean Bertels, Steve Dralle, Tim & Heidi Bertels, Laurie & Terry Edwards and John & Tina Bertels; twenty-six great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a daughter, Joann Bertels; two brothers, Ralph & Walter Walker; a sister, Clara Krilovich; one great granddaughter, Hailey Joann Bertels and two nephews, Larry & Delbert Nelson.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm Monday, December 13, 2010 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto where funeral services will be held at 10 am Tuesday December 14, 2010 with Pastor Ralph Blake officiating.
Burial will follow at Short Cemetery in Cottage Hills.
