Mildred Kallal

Mildred Bernice Kallal, 70, died at 12:05 p.m. Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at the Jerseyville Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.She was born n Jersey County on Oct. 22, 1940, one of four children born to the late Oliver & Sadie Mildred (Dickerman) McDaniels. A lifelong resident of Jerseyville, Bernice had worked at numerous restaraunts in town as a cook, including M&H Cafe and Desherlia's. She married David Kallal on June 17, 1961 in Jerseyville, and they celebrated nearly 40 years of marriage before his unexpected death on April 9, 2001.She is survived by a son & daughter in law, David & Linda Kallal of Jerseyville; three grandchildren and their spouses, Sadie & William Talley of O'Fallon, Mo., David Kallal of Jerseyville, and Brandy Pratt of Bethalto; five great grandchildren, Cassie, Alexia, Riley, Hanna and DJ; and a brother & sister in law, Paul & Joella McDaniels of Staunton, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents and husband, Bernice was preceded in death by a son, Joseph Daniel Kallal in 1986; two sisters, Donna Jean Booth & Roberta Kay Booth; and a nephew, Oliver Lynn McDaniels.Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday.  Rev. Jason Valentin of the Believers Baptist Church in Carrollton where Bernice was a member, will officiate.Burial will be in the Kane Cemetery.Memorials may be given to the National Kidney Association.
