Mickey Fay “Buzz” Topal, 60, of Granite City, IL, passed away at 8:03 a.m. Thurs. Oct. 10, 2024 at his home with his family by his side and his dog on his lap.
He was born Aug. 31, 1964 in St. Louis, MO to the late George and Vonda (Smith) Topal.
On Feb. 11, 1984, he and Karyn Lynn Rogers were married at St. Mary’s in Madison, IL. She survives.
Mickey worked from Knox Kershaw as a Work Equipment Specialist. He and Karyn loved to travel and he had been to all 50 states. He was very intelligent and loved to learn and to learn how things worked. He loved Jeopardy, Star Trek, trains, planes, automobiles, animals and his grandchildren. He loved to watch his grandkids playing sports or playing in the yard and loved to play jokes on them.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by 2 children: Bryan Topal and Kaylyn (Travis) Cage; 3 grandchildren: Carleigh and Brayden Topal and Zachary Cage; 2 sisters: his twin, Vickie (Andy) Smith of FL and Alice Lucas of OH; mother-in-law: Theresa Rogers of Waterloo, IL, sister-in-law: Jahnne Kae (Paul) Blattner of Waterloo, IL; brother-in-law: Dwayne Rogers II of Madison; many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews, including: Ashley (Trey) Burris of Columbia, IL and their children: Lily Burris, who was his birthday buddy and Daisy Burris; and his beloved pup: Thorman.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by seven siblings: Clifford Warden, Sharon Dunbar, Patricia Warden, Leo Warden, Carol Baugh, Melba Vinson and Larry Warden; and his father-in-law: Dwayne Rogers Sr.
Memorial visitation will be from 4 p.m. until a time of sharing and prayer by the family at 6:30 p.m. Tues. Oct. 15, 2024 at Wojstrom Funeral Home & Crematory.
