Michael Stuart Snyder, 56, died Sunday, April 17, 2011 at Des Peres Hospital in St. Louis County, Mo. after suffering from heart disease for many years. He was born in Jerseyville on Aug. 30, 1954, one of two sons born to the late Stuart L. & Mary Lou (Grafford) Snyder.He graduated from Jersey Community High School, and had worked at Ropers Plastic, Lenhardt Tool & Die, and delivered papers with the Suburban Journals for numerous years.  His last occupation was as a baker with Bill's Bakery in Jerseyville, and had worked there for numerous years until his health necessitated his retirement.When he was able, Mike enjoyed hunting and fishing, and in his later years found contentment with the computer.He is survived by his longtime companion and best friend of 20 years, Martha Ward of Jerseyville; a sister in law, Rev. Donna Blythe, and her husband, Thomas Blythe. as well as his nephew and a niece.Mike is also survived by Martha's family who considered him one of their own, Mary "Kate" Ward of Jerseyville; Sharon & Kenny Thomas of Fieldon, Donna & Denny Fry, Robin & Mike Groppel, William  & Cathie Ward, Rick & Vonda Ward, Roger Ward, and Anita Ward all of Jerseyville.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his only brother, Ronald A. Snyder; and a brother in law, John A. Ward.Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m Wednesday  at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Holy Ghost Catholic Chuch in Jerseyville, with Father William Hembrow officiating.Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville.Memorials may be given to his family in care of the funeral home.
