Michael J. Molloy Sr.

Michael J. Molloy Sr., 71, passed away at 7:34 pm on Thursday, November 11, 2010 at St. Anthony’s Health Center in Alton with his family by his side.



He was born in Alton on December 31, 1938, the son of Weston J. and Opal L. (Burke) Molloy.



He worked as a mold maker for Owens Illinois Glass Company retiring in 1993; he then was owner and operator of Mike’s Broadway Wedge Tavern in Alton.  Mike was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Alton, American Legion Post 126 and the F.O.E. 254; he also served in the Army Reserves. He graduated from Marquette High School in 1956 and attended Loras College in Iowa and Southern Illinois University in Alton. He loved bowling, boating and especially spending time with his two granddaughters.



He is survived by his wife; three children Michelle Molloy, Jennifer Freeman and Michael Molloy Jr. all of Alton; two granddaughters Emily Freeman of Bozeman, MT, Abby Freeman of Alton; one brother Tim (Jan) Molloy of Alton, two sisters Pat (Tom) Wilson of Alton, Kay (Dick) Renard of Kirkwood, MO and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.



His parents preceded him in death and one infant daughter Melissa Molloy.



Visitation will be from 3 to 7 pm Sunday November 14, 2010 at Staten-Fine Funeral Home in Alton.  Funeral Mass will be 10 am Monday November 15, 2010 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton.



Private Family Burial will be at Scenic Hill Cemetery in Grafton, IL.



Memorials may be made to Marquette Catholic Capitol Campaign Fund, Shriner’s Hospital for Crippled Children or St. Mary’s Grade School.
