Michael Cummings

Michael Alan Cummings, 42, formerly of Kane,  passed away on Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at the Cheyenne Regional Medical Center in Cheyenne, Wyoming, from complications from a recent heart bypass surgery that he was unable to recover from.He was born on July 18, 1968 in Jerseyville, the seventh & youngest child born to Frank (FG) and Lila (Devening) Cummings of Kane, IL.  He grew up in Kane, and graduated in 1986 from Jersey Community High School.  He attended Southern Illinois University-Carbondale, and was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He was selected as a USAF recruiter, earning many accolades in his high profile position.  He was stationed in Alaska and FE Warren AFB, Wy., alongside his brother, David.  He currently was employed as a heavy equipment operator for 4 Quarters Excavation in Cheyenne, Wy.He married former Jerseyville resident,  Susan Beiermann on May 8, 2009 in St. Charles, Mo., and she survivies.Also surviving are six children, Alexandria, Mallory, and Megan Cummings all of Alton, Keygan Appel, Mya Wormington, and Makswell Cummings all of Cheyenne.He is also survivied by six brothers & sisters and their spouses, Barbara & Tom Yarrell of Plano, Tx., Bev & Mike Fessler of Dow, Dave & Judy Cummings of Cheyenne, Wy., Betty & Dennis Fenton of Alton, Tracie Cummings of Jerseyville and Dan & Lynn Cummings of Lewisville, Tx.; along with 14 wonderful nieces and nephews and seven great nieces and nephews.  He is also survived by his Aunt Mary & Uncle Jacques Aderton and family of Hardin and Aunt Dorothy Cummings of Urbana.Mike had a strong zest for life and was always happiest when he was surrounded by his family whom he dearly loved.Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m., Tuesday.  Rev. Dennis Hill will officiate.The Patriot Guard will lead Michaels funeral procession to his final resting place at the Kane Cemetery where theJerseyville American Legion Post 492 will conduct military graveside rites.Memorials may be given to his family, and may be given in care of Crawford Funeral Home.
