Melissa S. Medders, 53, of Gillespie, IL, died at Community Memorial Hospital, Staunton, IL on Thursday, November 4, 2021, at 6:43 am.
She was born on August 13, 1968, in Litchfield, IL. She was a graduate of Gillespie High School, St. John's School of Nursing in Springfield, and SIUE where she received a bachelor's in nursing. She was a registered nurse in the home health industry. Melissa loved her job, patients, football, Christmas, and animals. Her son meant the world to her.
She is survived by her parents, Willard & Carole Scheller of Eagarville, IL, son, Blake (fiancée, Mikayla Fritz) Medders of Benld, IL, sister, Kelly Favre of Benld, IL, nieces & nephews, April Balestri, Crystal Linton, Chris Schuerman, Vanessa Davidson, Maggie & Mollie Ayers, several aunts, cousins, great-nieces & great-nephews.
Melissa was preceded in death by her brother, Joe Ayers, nephew, Charles Schuerman, grandparents, Joe and Eleanor Garella, Paul and Lucille Scheller, and uncle, Dick Scheller.
Friends may call on Sunday, November 7, 2021, at Kravanya Funeral Home, Gillespie from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm. Missy would have preferred that all those attending wear black and gold Steelers attire.
