JERSEYVILLE - Melissa Jane Herring, 57, died at 9:04 p.m., Sunday, August 31, 2020 at Jersey Community Hospital in Jerseyville.
She was born in Jerseyville, Illinois on October 28, 1962, and was the daughter of Harold and Vivian (Weller) Kessinger.
In her free time, Melissa enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting, and anything that involved family and friends, often times tricking them into helping her with numerous arts and crafts projects.
She married Mark Herring on January 30, 1985 in Jerseyville.
Surviving are her husband, Mark Herring of Godfrey; two sons and a daughter, Eric Holly of Delhi, Donny Holly of Springfield, IL., and Heather Holly of Jerseyville; a step-daughter and her husband, Amy and Eric Johnson of Jerseyville; seven grandchildren, Kayleen and Jacob Holly, Elizabeth Henke, Haillie Steele, Stephen Loy, Alexis Cullen, and Sydney Cullen-Johnson; two sisters, Sanna Graybek of Florida, and Jennifer Hoots of Roodhouse; and three brothers, Michael Kessinger of Roodhouse, Joseph Kessinger of Patterson, and John Kessinger of White Hall.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Danny Henke; two sisters, Valerie Benedict and Rebecca Kessinger; as well as a brother, William Kessinger.
Per her wishes, cremation rights will be accorded and no public services are scheduled at this time.
