Mayme “Kitty” Kathryn Rutherford, age 83, of Godfrey, passed away Friday, October 21, 2016 at her home under the care of BJC Hospice.
She was born May 30, 1933, in Cape Girardeau, MO, the daughter of Ishmael and Audrey (Ayres) Statler.
Mayme married Edgar A. Rutherford on December 23, 1950. He preceded her in death on June 20, 1996.
Mayme was a nurse at Alton Memorial Hospital. She was a member of Community Christian Church in Alton. Mayme was a member of the Alton VFW Auxillary and Brighton Eastern Star. She enjoyed spending time with her friends and family.
She is survived by her daughters, Kathy Lynn Gilchrist, Dana Ann (David) Opfer, Donna Renee (Mark) Gola; her son, Keith (Cynthia) Rutherford; four sisters, Ann Schaa, Sammie Henson, Maye Hoenwater, Keron Burget; one brother, George Statler; eleven grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by a sister, Sharon Carter; a brother, Charley Statler.
Visitation will be held, from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey with Pastor Mark Church officiating.
Burial will follow at Whitewater Christian Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Diabetic Association.
