Maxine Young, 90, of Gillespie, IL, died at her residence on Monday, December 16, 2024 at 3:53 p.m.
She was born December 4, 1934, in Dorchester, IL to Henry William Heyen & Lois E Dilliard Heyen. She married Alex Young on May 19, 1956 in Dorchester, IL.
She worked at Gillespie Care Center. She was a former bowler. Maxine was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. She enjoyed working in her yard, walking with friends downtown Gillespie and family get-togethers.
She is survived by her spouse, Alex "Blackie" Young of Gillespie, IL, children, Kim Anne Young of Gillespie, IL, Stewart (Julie) Young of Litchfield, IL, Laura Young of Springfield, IL, grandchildren, Stewart, Jr (Chelsea), Jennifer (companion, Josh), Jared (Dolly), great-grandchildren, Christian, Noah, Tyler, sisters in law, Lynn Heyen, Margaret Odorizzi and several nieces and nephews.
Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, daughter in infancy, Elizabeth Lois Young, brother, Harold Heyen, sisters, Helen McNeel and Doris Clark.
Public graveside services will be on Thursday, December 19, 2024 at 12:30 p.m. at Gillespie Cemetery.
