Maxine Doris McCormick, 90, died at 3:05 p.m. Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at Rosewood Care Center in Alton. Born April 12, 1923 in Jersey County, IL, she was the daughter of Clarice Felter and Isabelle (Ewin) Felter Moore. She was a member of Twelfth Street Presbyterian Church in Alton. She was a cook for the Sisters of St. Francis of The Martyr St. George Convent for 20 years retiring in 1998. On May 4, 1941 she married Herschel McCormick in St. Charles, MO. He preceded her in death in 1978. Surviving are three daughters, Peggy McElroy of Swainsboro, GA, Sandra Weese of Fort Worth, TX, and Vicki Hale (Ken) of Godfrey, seven grandchildren, Scott and Erik McElroy, Dane Weese, Kelly Connor, Courtney David, and Benjamin and Riley Hale, 12 great grandchildren, Elizabeth, Laura, and Lindsay McElroy, Taylor Harber, Jordan McElroy, Dana Weese, twins, Casen and Kinsey Connor, Wilken, Quinn, Larkin, and Sutton David. Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons-in-law, Glenn McElroy and Robert Weese, and a brother, Clarice “Junior” Felter. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 14, 2014 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Reverend Randy Butler will officiate.
