Matthew “Matt” J. Darr, 46, of East Alton, passed away on Saturday, March 6, 2021 at Alton Memorial Hospital.
He was born on September 18, 1974 in Jerseyville, IL, the son of Charles D. and Ella Jean (Wood) Darr.
Matt worked at Olin corp. as an operator for over 13 years. He enjoyed going to the gym, watching movies, listening to music, going to the Mexican restaurant for margaritas, and loved spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include his fiancé, Amy Cress of East Alton; his children, Hope Darr (fiancé Quentin McEvers) of Pleasant Hill MO, Haley Darr (Seth Mifflin) of East Alton, and Lukas Darr of Jerseyville; his step- children, Faith Sanford of East Alton, and Hunter Sanford of Wood River; siblings, Tom (Bertha) Slow of Roadhouse, Rita (Vic) Short of Fieldon, Sarah Telega of Jerseyville, and Bob Darr of Milwaukee WI; three grandchildren, Vaeda, Korbyn, and Dawson; formerly married to Becky (Marshall) Darr of Greenwood MO.
He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Ella; nephew Ryan Slow; and grandparents Milton and Virginia Darr.
Visitation will be on Saturday, March 13, 2021 from 1 to 4 pm at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.
