Mary E. Scott, 76, of Bethalto, passed away on Sunday, August 4, 2024, at 11:45 p.m.
She was born on February 16, 1948, in Sullivan, MO, the daughter of Rueben West and Revil Dilks. She married Robert E. Scott in St. Louis, on September 2, 1989. He survives.
Mary loved to go to the Alton Belle Casino. One of her favorite places to visit was Florida, where she would visit a sister. She loved to shop, play games on her tablet, and read. She was an amazing mother and grandmother, and loved them all dearly, especially the grandkids. She enjoyed spending time with her family.
Along with her husband, Bob, she is survived by her two children, Kellie (Gregory) Romano of Bethalto, and Chad (Whitley) Scott of Bethalto; her stepchildren, Troy (Laura) Scott of Springfield, IL, and Ginger Toolen of East Alton; grandchildren, Lily Romano, McKenna Scott, Connor Scott, Caroline Scott, Donovan Scott, Liberty Scott, Nicole (James) Day; great-grandchildren, Archer and Eleanor Day; sisters, Ruby Adams, Carol Little, and Geraldine Cavanaugh; a sister-in-law, Debbie King; and three bonus children, Wally Dean, Curtis, and Vicci.
Mary lost a daughter, Carrie Panyik, in 2022, and the family takes great comfort knowing they are together once again. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a very special uncle and aunt, Fred and Edna Rose; her father and mother-in-law, Robert and Vera Scott; and siblings, Bernice, Loreeta, Cowan, Ron, and Dale.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 9, 2024, from 5 to 7 pm, at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto, where funeral services will be held a 10:00 am on Saturday, August 10, 2024. Pastor Terry McKinizie will officiate. Burial will take place at Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens, in Mt. Vernon, IL.
