Mary Pearson

Mrs. Mary Ellen (Spiroff) Pearson, age 64, of Rockbridge, Illinois, passed away at her home in the early morning of October 23, 2025. She was born June 17, 1961, in Granite City, Illinois, the daughter of the late Carl Spiroff and Marcella (Krieshok) Spiroff.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Marcella Spiroff, and her brother Steven Spiroff.

Mary graduated from Granite City High School in 1979. She worked as a clerk for Mutual of Omaha in St. Louis, MO, from 1979 to 1983. In 1984, she began working as a paralegal for Kinder Law in Granite City, IL.  In 2000, Mary was employed by A.G. Edwards in St. Louis, MO until she married.

Mary married Joe Pearson on November 27, 2005. She was a homemaker and loved caring for her dogs George, Sheba, Speckles, Ernie, Wilma, Emme, and Evie. For over 40 years, Mary created and illustrated cartoon characters and strips and delighted in sharing them with friends and family to bring a smile to anyone’s face. She enjoyed spending time with her nieces and great nieces, and nephews.

Mary Ellen is survived by her husband Joe Pearson, a brother, Mark Spiroff of Granite City, IL, sister and brother-in-law, Gina (Matthew) Miller of Mt. Olive, IL, nieces Ashley (Johnathan) Bargiel, Megan (Brian) Marynowski, Marcella Miller, Amber Miller, Amanda (Robert) Bodi, Adam (Amiee) Spiroff, Ryan Spiroff, and many great nieces and nephews. She also leaves many other family members and friends who will dearly miss her.

Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thurs. Oct. 30, 2025 at Wojstrom Funeral Home & Crematory where services will be at 10:00 a.m. Fri. Oct. 31, 2025.  Burial will be private at Witt cemetery in Rockbridge, IL.
