Mary Lou Buzan, 81, passed away peacefully in her sleep early Sunday, June 30, 2013 at Cameron Glen Health & Rehab Center in Reston, VA due to complications following a stroke.
Born August 7, 1931 the eldest daughter of Earl and Elizabeth Hill, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 57 years, Nelson “Buzz” Buzan.
Mary Lou is survived by her sons Michael (Tamara) Buzan of Portsmouth, VA and Keith (Mary) Buzan of Leesburg, VA , and three grandsons Eric Buzan of Norfolk, VA and Owen and Seth Buzan of Leesburg, VA. She is also survived by her sisters Audrey Hawkins and Elizabeth Creef, both of Manteo, NC, her brother-in-law Milton (Elinor) Buzan of St. Charles, MO, her sister-in-law Doris Beneze of Godfrey and her sister-in-law Jane Buzan of Peoria, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her elder brother John Hill, her brother-in-law Dr. Edwin Buzan, Jr. and her brother-in-law Nelson “Ott” Beneze.
Mary Lou was a devoted wife and mother all of her adult life. During her spare time she enjoyed spending time with her grandsons, knitting, reading, and tending her iris garden.
In celebration of her life, visitation will be Tuesday, July 9, 2013 from 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral home in Alton. Funeral services will be held immediately following the visitation at 2:00 pm at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at the Upper Alton Cemetery.
