Mary Blankenship

Mary L. Blankenship, 93, passed away on Wednesday, June 14, 2017, at her home in Bethalto.She was born February 21, 1924, in Brighton, Illinois, the daughter of Dewey and Della (Feilbach) Wagenfeldt.On January 6, 1945, Mary married George A. Blankenship at the Fosterburg Presbyterian Church. He preceded her in death on January 19, 1974.Mary enjoyed gardening, jigsaw puzzles, spending time with her family, and playing Uno on Friday nights.Survivors include her children, Donald Blankenship of Bethalto, Paul and June Blankenship of Kansas City, Missouri, Bonita Schmollinger of Bethalto, Ruth Schallenberg of Godfrey, Linda and Rusty Crain of Bunker Hill, Wanda Hagenbrok of Wood River, Carol Blankenship of East Alton; twenty-three grandchildren; twenty-nine great grandchildren; and fifteen great-great grandchildren.In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, two sisters, one brother, one daughter, and two sons in law.Visitation will be from 10 am until time of service at12 pm, on Monday, June 19, 2017, at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.Memorials may be given to Hope Rescue.Online condolences can be given at www.eliaskallalandschaaf.com
