Mary "Kay" Baima, 76, born May 19, 1947, in Alton, took her last breath on May 31, 2023, in Ft. Myers, Florida, surrounded by the love and warmth of her family. Her spirit, imbued with resilience, kindness, and warmth, will continue to live on in the hearts of those whose lives she touched so profoundly.
Kay was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Mary Ball, and her infant daughter, Shelly Ann Henschen. She is survived by her loving husband of many cherished years, Joseph Baima, her brother, Mike Ball, and her daughter and son-in-law, Shannon and Martin Bond. Kay was a doting grandmother to Andrew and Emily Bond. She also leaves behind her step-son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Kate Baima, and their children, Olivia and Ethan.
Born and raised in Alton, Kay's life journey led her to Cape Coral, Florida, a place she adored for its tranquility and warmth. Kay's zest for life was mirrored in her eclectic interests. She was an avid reader. She found solace in solving crossword puzzles, a hobby that kept her mind as sharp as a tack.
A lifelong Cardinal Baseball fan, Kay not only cheered for her team passionately but also possessed an impressive knowledge of players' names and stats, truly embodying the spirit of a devoted fan.
A Celebration of Life in honor of Kay will be held on Sunday, July 9th, from 1 to 4 pm at the Rox-Arena, 2 Park Dr., Roxana, Illinois. The family welcomes all who knew and loved Kay to join them in commemorating her beautiful life. Please come to share stories and laughter as we remember a remarkable woman who touched so many lives with her kindness and love.
