Mary Howell

Mary Joanne Howell, 75, died at 4:50 p.m., Sunday, November 18, 2012 at St. Anthony's Hospital in Alton.She was born in Delhi, Il on March 30, 1937 one of seven children born to the late Louis & Rosamond (Fleming) Killion.Joanne graduated in 1956 from Jersey Community High School, and attended St. Louis University.  She was a loving and dedicated wife and mother, and was as dedicated to her Catholic faith as anyone.She married James R. Howell on June 7, 1958 at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Jerseyville, and together they have shared 54 years together and raised a family that consisted of their five children.Surviving are her husband, James Howell of Jerseyville; a daughter & son in law, Charlotte & Charles Brainerd of Grafton; three sons & daughters in law, John & Jackie Howell of Jerseyville, Russell "Pat" and Laura Howell of Jerseyville and Eugene "Gene" & Paula Howell of Dow; her beloved Grandchildren, Joseph Howell & Justin Howell both of Mount Vernon, Jacob Howell of Jerseyville, Nicholas Howell and Natalie Howell both of Jerseyville, Erick Howell, Matthew Howell, Chevi Pack, Chase Pack and Lydia Hamilton all of Dow; two sisters, Martha Killion of Jerseyville and Carol Greeley of Fort Nill, SC.; three brothers & sisters in law, Richard & Theresa Killion of Jerseyville, William Killion of Edwardsville, and Robert & Yvonne Killion of St. Charles, Mo.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved son, Ronald Louis Howell on Feb. 10, 2001; a grandson, Dylan Howell; a sister & brother in law, Rita & Philip Petrik.Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Jerseyville, with Father William Hembrow officiating.Burial will be in the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Cemetery in Jerseyville.Memorials may be given to the St. Francis/Holy Ghost Catholic Schools in Jerseyville.
