Mary (Fritz) Bartholomew, age 61, passed away peacefully at 9:30 pm. on Thursday July 24, 2008 at her residence after an extended illness in Bethalto.
She was born on June 21, 1947, in Alton the daughter of Henry and Antonietta (Catalano) Fritz.
She married Thomas W. Bartholomew on May 16, 1970 in St. Charles, MO he survives.
She was a 1965 graduate of Marquette High School. She was a homemaker and a mother to all who needed her. She opened her heart and home to all. No one ever went hungry or needed a place to lay their head as long as there was Mary.
In addition to her husband, she will be deeply missed by her children, spouses and grandchildren; Thomas & Holly Bartholomew of Demotte, IN; Antonietta (Toni) Bartholomew & Mark Bartholomew of Bethalto; Shari & Joe McGeehon of St. Charles, MO; six grandchildren Brittany & Ryan Bartholomew, Mark Bartholomew, Jr.; Emily, Madelyn & James McGeehon.
She is also survived by five sisters and their spouses. Helen & Jerome Cresswell; Henrietta & David Wittman; Janet & Kevin Spencer all of Godfrey; Michelle Beckham of East Alton; and Teresa Beckham of Alton. Her mother in law Virginia Bartholomew, four sisters in law Phyllis Brockman; Peggy & Gary Krummelbein; Paula & Gary Vandiver; Pam & Tom Hawkins; five brothers in law, Terry & Mary Bartholomew, Tim & Ginger Bartholomew; Todd Bartholomew, Toby Bartholomew & Tracy his fiance Laura and a lifetime friend, Mary Demand, who spent endless hours at her side a true comfort to Mary and a ?adopted? grandson in her heart, David Lee Seymour and her pet Heidi. She is also survived by numerous nieces & nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her father in law Ted Bartholomew and a brother in law Ted Bartholomew.
Visitation is from 4 to 8 pm Sunday July 27, 2008 at Elias Kallal & Schaaf Funeral in Bethalto. A prayer service will be held at 7:45 pm Sunday. Mass of Christian Burial is at 10 am Monday, July 28, 2008 at Our Lady Queen of Peace in Bethalto.
Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto
