Mary Kanallakan

Mary Francis Kanallakan, 73, died at 11:00 p.m. Monday, January 3, 2010 at her home. 

Born September 3, 1937 in Orr, Oklahoma, she was the daughter of William R. and Bessie (Abshire) Scoggins.  She retired from St. Joseph Hospital as a CNA in the nursery.  She was a lifelong member of the Royal Neighbors of America.  She was a longtime member of the Cherry Street Baptist Church in Alton where she was a Marcella Griffin Guild Girl leader.  She was also a Girl Scout leader.  She married Roger Kanallakan in Cashion, Arizona.  He preceded her in death. 

Surviving are two daughters, Jo Ellen Maul of Alton and Nancy Finley of Fredericktown, MO, one son, Ed Kanallakan of Alton, three grandchildren, Cindy Hill of Fieldon, James Kanallakan and Thomas Kanallakan both of Fredericktown, four great grandchildren, two sisters, Maggie Seay and Ruby Robbins both of Buckeye, Arizona.  Also surviving is Delbert Mayfield of Fredericktown, MO, whom she loved like a son.  She was preceded in death by a daughter, Judy Kanallakan, a grandson, Eddie Finley, a granddaughter, Katy Kanallakan, two brothers, Calvin and Pete Scoggins, three sisters, Oleta Weatherford, Melissa Allen and Wanda Scoggins in infancy. 

There will be no services.  Burial will be private at Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville.  Gent Funeral Home in Alton is in charge of arrangements.
