Mary Conley

Godfrey |

Mary Ellen (Harman) Conley passed away Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at Morningside of Godfrey.

She was born August 26, 1929 in Girard, Illinois, the daughter of the late Foster Rice and Effie Alan (Hylton) Harman.

She often said she lived by the letter S –swimming, sewing, singing and selling real estate.  However, her greatest S was her salvation.  She received Jesus Christ as her Savior as a child and was a lifelong member of Brown Street Baptist Church.  She faithfully prayed for her family and invited them, friends and missionaries to her home.  She also thanked the Lord daily for the caring staff at Morningside.

She is survived by her children, Catherine (Raymond) Vajda of Godfrey, Illinois, Scott (Teresa) Conley of Godfrey, Illinois, Judith Conley of Alton, Illinois and grandsons, Jonathan (Deirdre) Schrader of Schroon Lake, New York, and Aaron Vajda of Godfrey, Illinois whom she loved dearly.  Also surviving are her siblings, Ruth Voumard of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Willa Humenick of Alton, Illinois, Shirley (Wilbur) Schreiber of Arriba, Colorado, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her sisters Minnie Bowsher, Virginia Nielsen, Doris Harman, and brother Foster Jr. Harman.

There will be no visitation with private burial services at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Godfrey officiated by the Reverend David Conrad.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Brown Street Baptist Church Building Fund or The Activities Department at Morningside of Godfrey.
