Mary Flamer

Mary Elizabeth Flamer age 71 received eternal rest and peace on November 18, 2013 at home with her family at her side.  She was born November 15, 1942 in Carbondale, Illinois.  She was the daughter of Thomas and Juanita Relford Thomas. Mary married John Henry Flamer on June 17, 1960 in Carbondale.  She was employed as a para-mutual clerk for Fairmount Race Track. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many.  In addition to her husband  of 53 years, she is survived by four daughters Crystal Flamer-Garrison, Dawn Flamer- Parks, Melanie Armstead-Williams and Tamiko Flamer-Rettle, five sons, Todd, Theodore, Timothy, John III and Christopher Flamer, 13 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, one sister Judy Smith of Carbondale, two brothers Tommy Michael Holder of Carbondale and Sherwin Thomas of Acworth, GA; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son John Flammer III.Visitation Saturday November 23, 2013 from 9 a.m. until time of service at 10 a.m at Mt. Joy Baptist Church in Edwardsville. Rev. Thomas Malone will officiate. Burial Oakland Cemetery in Carbondale, IllinoisCathy M.
