Mary Althea Vetter, 84, passed away at 12:30 pm Friday, July 8, 2016 at St. John’s Medical Center in Springfield, IL.
She was born on March 1, 1932 in Hamburg, IL the daughter of the late John Earl & Nellie (Gresham) Lammy.
She married Charles E. Vetter on April 24, 1954 at St. Anselm Church in Kampsville.
Althea owned and operated Ferry View Restaurant with her husband for several years in Kampsville, she also with her husband for a few years worked on a barge as a cook. She was a member of St. Anselm’s Catholic Church in Kampsville, the American Legion Ladies Aux in Kampsville and the North Calhoun Fire Protection District. She enjoyed cooking, watching Bill and Billy race at different tracks and caring for and spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by one brother, Maurice Lammy of Kampsville, sister-in-law, Betty Lammy of Hardin, cousin, Bill Puterbaugh of Brownsburg, IN, several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one brother, Hampton Lammy.
Visitation will be from 10 am until time of funeral service at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at Gress, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Brussels, with Rev. Paul Frazier officiating.
(Due to the remodeling of our Hardin facility we will be having the services at our Brussels facility.)
Burial will follow at Summit Grove Cemetery in Kampsville.
Memorials may be made to the North Calhoun Fire Protection District and or the Calhoun Ambulance Service.
