Former Kane resident, Mary (Abbott) Flamm, 97, died at 1:26 p.m., Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at the Lewis Memorial Christian Village in Springfield.She was born in Kane on Oct. 3, 1915, and was the daughter of the late Albert Andrew & Ethel (Hinkle) Abbott.Mary raised in Kane, and attended Kane High School. Currently, she was the oldest living member of the Kane Baptist Church. Mary was a longtime resident of Decatur, and at 51 years of age, she returned to school, and earned her LPN license and worked in the Cardiac Unit at Decatur Memorial Hospital.Surviving are her daughter, Melody S. Capistrano of Springfield; two sons, Robert A. Flamm of Jerseyville and David L. Flamm of Tecumseh, Mo.; seven grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Ernest "Benny" Abbott, Ethelbert Abbott , Aden Abbott, and an infant brother.Visitation will be from 1 p.m., Saturday until time of funeral services at 2 p.m., at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville. Her grandson in law, Rev. Wayne Stewart will officiate.Burial will be in the Kane Cemetery.Memorials may be given to the Kane Baptist Church
