Marvin Eugene “Gene” Isringhausen, Jr. was born on October 27, 1952, in Alton, Illinois, to Marvin Eugene Isringhausen and Marilyn Joyce (Sinkler) Isringhausen. Gene passed away peacefully on August 27, 2024, in Alton, Illinois, after a brief battle with cancer.
Gene is survived by his daughter, Faith Fassero, his ten grandchildren: Michael, Morgan, Cadee, Alex, Azalee, Noah, Dante, Elodie, and Ben. Two great grandchildren: Ma’Kari and Luna. A sister, Patty Isringhausen, of Grand Haven, Michigan, a brother, David Isringhausen (Denise) of Alton. Nephew and nieces: Nathan Rulo, Justin Rulo, Tyler Kelsey, Clayton Kelsey, Stephanie Kelsey, Benjamin Kelsey, Jordan Allen, Brooke Isringhausen, and Ryan Isringhausen.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin Eugene Isringhausen and Marilyn Joyce Isringhausen. Sisters Pamela Isringhausen, Kathy Rulo (Ronnie), and Krista Allen (Steven). A nephew, Derek Allen, and a grandson, Tanner.
Gene graduated from Jersey Community High School in 1970 and served as the President of the National Honor Society in his senior year. He attended the University of Illinois Champaign Urbana studying pre-med for one year. On June 26, 1976, he was briefly married to the former Connie McCullough Theirmarriage produced one daughter, Faith. He began his working career farming with his father. He then worked for Isringhausen Railroad Specialists. Once again, he returned to his farming roots working independently. His last job was working for the William F. Brockman Company and serving as the Water Commissioner for the Village of Fieldon.
If you needed help with any project, you could always count onGene to lend a hand. He was always ready, willing, and able with his vast knowledge and truckload of tools. Gene was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to many. His passing has left a void that can never be filled. Gene’s memory will be forever cherished, and his spirit will live on in those who loved him.
The funeral and visitation will be held at the Crawford Funeral Home, 1308 State Highway 109, Jerseyville, Illinois. Visitation will take place on Thursday, September 5, 2024, from 4 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 6, 2024, at 10 a.m. with interment in the Fieldon Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Peace United Church of Christ in Jerseyville, or to a charity of one’s choice.
