Martin Lopez, 67, died at 2:34 a.m. on Tuesday, March 9, 2021 at Alton Memorial Hospital. He was born April 2, 1953 in Wood River, IL the son of the late Juan M. Lopez and Esperanza E. (Espindola) of Alton.
He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton and a firefighter with the Alton Fire Department for 17 years. Besides his mother, he is survived by one son, Matthew Lopez (Courtney) of Godfrey, two grandchildren, Mia and Ryan Lopez, one brother, David Lopez (Evelyn) of Kansas City, MO, two sisters, Lupe Licata (Frank) of Bridgeton, MO, Tonya Sassenrath (Adam) of Edwardsville and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides his father, he is preceded in death by one sister, Diana Lopez.
Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 12, 2021 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton. Burial will be at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Alton.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
