Martha Wittman, 88, passed away at 12:39 pm on Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at Jersey Community Hospital.
She was born on January 22, 1932 in Fairmont, West Virginia, the daughter of Nicholas & Angelina (Guiseppe) DiMaio.
Martha married Norbert Wittman on October 23, 1954 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Brighton, IL. He preceded her in death on August 20, 2012.
Norb and Martha owned Wittman’s Mobile Station along with Lindbergh Park Tavern in Alton, and she was an avid bowler.
She was previously a member of St. Matthews Catholic Church in Alton and was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Godfrey.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Valerie and Tony Bridges of Godfrey; one son and a daughter-in-law, Michael and Roxanne Wittman of Alton; four grandchildren, Adam and Rachael Bridges of Godfrey, Dr. Nicholas (Jenni) Wittman of St. Louis, MO and Hannah (Jack) Combs of Alton; three great grandchildren, Lily and Olive Wittman and Christian Combs.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Louise Ware and Elizabeth McCullough: and a brother, Joseph DiMaio.
A Private Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 am Saturday December 12, 2020 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Godfrey with Father Steven Janoski celebrant.
Burial will be at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Godfrey.
